Music and Sound Designer Uses the Power of FREE in a Down Economy

ain0109-gamebeatI have never met a guy more sincere, geniune or more genius than Darryl Duncan.  We were first introduced several years ago when I was just starting my business.  Essentially, he’s a commericial jingle writer but overall, he’s an amazing producer, writer, editor, arranger, mixer and everything in between.  He does all this within the confines of his Chicago-based business, GameBeat Studios.

Darryl is one of those people who was just born to make music and he’s managed to do it despite some tremendous odds.  He has enjoyed massive succes in the commercial production industry by designing the music and sound for major commercial campaigns like Toyota, Walmart, Kraft, Sears and others.

But what’s a guy like Darryl to do in an economy like this when so many companies are cutting back on advertising?  Well, he gets creative and offers ad and marketing agencies the opportunity to hook up with him, get a FREE CUSTOM DEMO for current on upcoming projects, so they can get a taste of his amazing style and versatility.  A free CUSTOM demo?  That’s rare indeed.

I think his strategy is genius!  But the offer wont last forever.

I could blabber all day about Darryl but you can click and check him out for yourself.  In him and his company, you’ll see genius personified…and I’m not just saying that cause I’m doing his publicity…I really think he’s the real deal.

Don’t answer another HARO, PRLeads or ProfNet query until you read this…

I’m hearby issuing a moratorium on bad responses to media queries.  I swear, sometimes I get some of the craziest most irrelevant responses to my queries…!  It’s like what are people thinking?

Not to toot my horn but this is the right way respond to a HARO or PRLeads Query.

The reporter wrote:

I’m seeking marketing/sales/online experts and small- to midsized-business owners to comment on one of the following topics. In your response, please indicate which topic you’d be most qualified to speak on: 1) Tapping the Online Video Movement: Ways companies can use online video to promote their products and services right now. 2) How to Get Recipients to Read Your E-mail Blasts: Solid strategies that companies can use to make sure their e-mail messages are the ones that are opened, read and acted upon. 3) Attracting Customers, Even During a Downturn: Effective tips for companies that want to attract new customers now, and when the economy turns around. I’m a freelancer. Contact me at ima@reporter.com

The response (notice how it is brief, concise and gets to the heart of the journalists query without getting all long-winded and what not.  Remember, there is beauty in brevity):

Hi Ima,

I’m Monique Caradine, a radio/TV host turned publicity expert and media trainer for entrepreneurs.  I help small businesses (mainly women-owned) reach their ideal client through social and traditional media.

I’ve found that these days companies have to do several key things to “rise above the noise” in this uncertain marketplace — particularly as it relates to your third point – attracting new customers:

1.) They must build personal relationships.  This is done very effectively through social media like Twitter, Facebook, podcasts and blogs.  The market relies on social media as a means to connect on a personal level with corporations, therefore, those that are NOT in this space will feel the pinch.

2.) They must maintain their marketing initiatives despite the down economy.  Now is not the time to cut back!

Sustained visibility will reassure weary buyers who will repay you with their loyalty once the upswing begins.

3.) They must increase the value and the service to their customer base without increasing prices.  Customer service is a lost art.  Sincere Customer Service is virtually non-existent.  Now is the time for corporations to really give a personal touch, extra service and increased convenience without increasing the cost to consumers

Also, here’s a release I wrote recently on the topic.

Thanks!

The Secret to Speaking in Soundbites

harrowphoto051I hope your week is fabulous so far!
I am really excited because today is the last session of the Publicity Power Jumpstart Series.
Participants have learned everything from How to Write a Press Release to How to Pitch the Media.  It’s been grueling but great!
Another reason I’m so thrilled is because YOU get to take part in our last session on How to Speak in Soundbites with my special guest Susan Harrow.
There’s a fine art to speaking in soundbites. Once you master
it, you become a magnet for media opportunities on major
outlets like CNN, MSNBC, the Wall Street Journal, the New York
Times, Newsweek and more.
The key is saying the right things in the first 10 seconds of  your interview. When a reporter or producer calls you for an interview, you must know how to GET TO THE POINT! Keep in mind, your goal is to always deliver your message in a way that is succinct, concise and will have reporters and their audience hanging on your every word!
How many media opportunities have you lost because you just didn’t come across effectively?
Since many of my clients are always so interested in how to formulate Soundbites I’ve decided to open up this session and give you an opportunity to participate.
Join Susan and me for this exclusive event that will teach you what you need to know when it comes to mastering the fine art of speaking in soundbites. It’s called:
